FTDNA Test Kit# 42298 , Group ------ (Haplogroup R1b1a2a1a1b4b) (Ysearch User ID# ----) - (chart to be submitted for this page by test subject)

The accuracy of the ancestor chart is the responsibility of the test subject.

This test subject submitted the following note: The name Ainmhire is an old Gaelic surname which appears as far back as the 6th. and 7th. centuries in the Irish manuscripts. Ó hAinmhire means of the family of Ainmhire. The problem is that when people with the surname Ainmhire emigrated to English speaking areas the name Ainmhire was "translated" to many different forms such as Ansboro, Ansberry, Hansberry, Hanberry, Hanmore, Hanborough, Hambrick, Convery, Henneberry etc. etc. In fact there are instances of brothers emigrating to different areas of the U.S. who finished with different family surnames! I think therefore it is risky to depend too much on the spelling of the surname, many Irish people who emigrated in the 18th and 19th century could not read or write and indeed were more than willing to take on a local acceptable form of the surname so as to integrate quickly.
